Strategies of Online Casino Games - Roulette

Roulette Strategy

Roulette is a game of chance. There is no sure strategy that can make the roulette ball fall the way you want it to. Nevertheless, there are some proven strategies that can help you win at roulette more consistently.

Find a Single-Zero Roulette Game

The American roulette wheel has 38 pockets, including 0 and 00. That means that the odds of hitting your particular roulette number are 1 out of 38 (2.63%). If you make an even money bet, such as red or black or odd or even, your odds of winning are 18 out of 38 (47.37%).

A single-zero roulette wheel has only 37 pockets, so your odds of winning on a straight bet are 1 out of 37 (2.70%). Your odds of winning an even money bet are 18 out of 37 (48.65%). The differences might seem small, but in real-money casino gambling even small differences can be significant.

Most good online roulette casinos offer a variety of roulette games. So it is a good roulette strategy to find a single-zero roulette game and take advantage of the better odds of winning at roulette that it offers.

Understand the Roulette Bets

There is no bet on the roulette table that can be objectively called the best roulette bet. The best roulette bet for you depends on your personality, your objectives in playing roulette, and your bankroll.

If your goal in playing roulette is to win a little, lose a little, and keep playing for a long time, try one of the even-money roulette bets like odd or even or black or red. An even-money bet covers eighteen roulette numbers in one bet. Depending on your luck on any given day, you'll find that you are likely to win these roulette bets just about half the time and that you will more or less break even.

On the other hand, if you are the type of roulette gambler who likes to take high risks in search of high rewards, you can try a straight bet on a single number on the roulette table. A winning bet on a single roulette number pays out at a rate of 35 to 1. A $10 bet can earn a nifty profit of $350. Of course, you are not going to win this bet very often, but when you do it's a nice jackpot.

There are plenty of other roulette bets in between these extremes. You can bet on two, three, four, six, or twelve roulette numbers. Just bear in mind the general rule: the more numbers you bet on, the higher your probability of winning roulette, but the smaller the roulette payout.

  Play Online Roulette
You should also be aware that you can make multiple bets on the same spin of the roulette wheel. If you like the number 22, for example, you can bet on 22 and black, or 22 and the middle dozen. There are numerous roulette betting systems that advocate using multiple bets as a way to hedge your bets and minimize your losses while maximizing your gains.

The best roulette strategy, therefore, is to understand the different roulette bets, the roulette odds, and the roulette payouts, and then to place your bets intelligently.

Forget About the Past When You Play Roulette

Suppose you are playing roulette online, and four red numbers in a row have won. From this, you can logically conclude:

(A) Red is "hot," so you should bet on red to take advantage of the streak.
(B) Under the laws of roulette probability, black is now "due" so you should bet on black.

FALSE and FALSE. In the game of roulette, every spin of the roulette wheel is an independent event. The roulette wheel has no memory. Whatever happened in the past has no effect on what will happen in the future.

The probability of hitting a red number is ALWAYS 18 out of 38 in American Roulette, and 18 out of 37 in European Roulette. Nothing that happened on previous spins can ever change this. So forget about any so-called roulette "strategies" that call for charting past spins and detecting some kind of pattern in the roulette numbers. They are completely worthless.

Take Advantage of the La Partage Roulette Rule

French roulette has an interesting rule called La Partage. According to this roulette rule, if you place an even-money bet and the roulette ball lands on zero, you lose only half your bet instead of your whole bet. It's a small difference from the standard roulette rules, but it can have a significant impact when you are gambling for real money in roulette. So if you are inclined to making one of the even-money roulette bets, play French roulette and move the odds a little bit in your favor.
